The questions we hear most often about Dusty Pawz kittens, placement and Himalayan care.
Do you have kittens available?
Availability changes with each litter. The application is the best first step because approved homes are contacted as kittens become ready for placement.
Can I have breeding rights?
Our kittens are placed as companions and are altered before going home. We do not offer breeding rights through the pet wait list.
Why are they so expensive?
Full pricing is discussed with approved homes. The cost reflects far more than the kitten itself: extensive veterinary care and health screening, Wisdom Panel DNA testing, carefully selected and imported bloodlines, registration, showing our breeding cats for objective evaluation, vaccines, deworming, microchipping and spay/neuter before homing. It also reflects the round-the-clock care, grooming preparation, household exposure and 24/7 socialization that goes into raising each litter, along with the kitten care package, health guarantee and lifetime breeder support.
Can I pick at birth?
No. We welcome preferences, but we do not make final placement decisions at birth. Kittens need time to develop, wean, show their personalities and be evaluated by our veterinarian.
Can I take my kitten home younger?
Usually no. We prefer kittens to stay through their vaccine series, social-development period and spay/neuter. The time with littermates between roughly 8 and 16 weeks is valuable for learning play manners and boundaries. Rare exceptions may be discussed for kittens leaving together as a pair.
Are Himalayans hypoallergenic?
No. Himalayans are not considered hypoallergenic, and individual people can react differently to individual cats.
How much grooming do they need?
Regular coat and face care is part of owning the breed. Some cats need more maintenance than others. We teach new owners what they need to know and provide ongoing support.
Why do I have to apply?
Because placement is not simply a transaction. We want to understand the home, expectations, other pets, grooming plan and what temperament will fit best.
Why do you show your cats?
Showing gives us objective outside evaluation of breed type and structure and helps keep our breeding decisions accountable to the standard. It is one tool among many, not a substitute for health testing or ethics.
Why are kittens altered?
Our companion kittens are not intended for breeding. Altering before placement protects the breeding program and makes the pet-only agreement clear before a kitten changes homes.
Can I declaw?
No. Declawing is prohibited for Dusty Pawz cats.
Can my cat go outside?
Dusty Pawz cats are placed as indoor cats. Secure catios and controlled outdoor enrichment are welcome; free roaming is not.
Will you hold a kitten without a deposit?
Once a family accepts a specific kitten, the reservation process must be completed within the agreed time. We do not hold kittens indefinitely without completing the reservation.
